innovation Research & Training (iRT) is a behavioral sciences research company committed to identifying and solving significant real-world problems facing children, families, communities, and organizations. By using evidence-based and culturally sensitive methods, iRT researchers investigate, develop, and evaluate behavioral, educational, psychological, social, and community assessment, prevention and treatment programs, and services.
At iRT, we’re committed to changing the lives of youth, parents, and communities. That’s why we developed all the products and services that makeup Prevention Central. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, educators, and other practitioners combine science, real-world perspectives, and field-tested studies to build programs that are both effective and practical.
In addition to Media Ready, Prevention Central offers substance abuse prevention and sexual health education programs for all ages, as well as programs to enhance children’s social-emotional learning.
Who developed this program?
The First Edition of the Media Ready program was developed by innovation Research & Training under a contract from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services/Federal OJJDP Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program.
The funding for the updating of the program in the Second and Third Editions was provided by innovation Research & Training. Media Ready was written by Dr. Janis Kupersmidt, Dr. Tracy Scull, and Dr. Jessica Benson, leading clinical and developmental psychologists who are also substance abuse prevention scientists and experienced educators.
